Heat Pumps

Heat pumps are constructed similarly to air conditioners, and operate in much the same way as well. However, they have the unique advantage of controlling the direction in which their refrigerant flows. This allows them to act as either heating or air conditioning systems. We install and replace heat pump systems of various kinds and we offer repair and maintenance.

Ductless Mini Split Systems

Ductless air conditioning mini splits are heat pumps that don’t use ducts. Instead, a number of smaller air handlers are linked to a single outdoor unit through power and refrigerant lines. Each has its own thermostat, which allows it to condition the room in which it is installed separate from the rest of the house. We install, repair, maintain and replace ductless mini split systems.

High Efficiency Systems

High efficiency AC systems are a good option for many homeowners who want to cut down on their home’s operating costs without sacrifice their comfort to do it. With a high–efficiency system, you can stay cool and comfortable all summer long without having to pay as much for the luxury.

Thermostat Installation and Replacement

Thermostats are the core of any climate control system, and as such they should be properly installed and maintained for the good of the system. We install and maintain thermostats of all kinds, so that your air conditioner can live up to its potential.

Zone Systems

Zone systems allow homeowners to keep the parts of the house that are actively being used cool, without having to waste energy on empty rooms.

Financing

If you have a broken air conditioner but do not have money to buy a new one, you may think you will have to live without it. The average temperature of New Jersey in the Summer is in the 90s. It could be dangerous to go without air conditioning.

We want your home to be healthy and comfortable. We offer financing options for air conditioning services to customers who can’t afford to pay for a new air conditioner and installation upfront.

Different Types of Air Conditioners

Not all air conditioners are constructed the same. Before you select your new air conditioner, you should know a bit about your options.

Central AC

You will find central air conditioning systems in larger homes and apartment buildings. It can cool numerous rooms or apartments at the same time using its ducted system. The ducts are spread throughout the building. As it is a large and complicated system, we install the system in the attic or basement.

Ductless Mini Split

If you live in a small home or apartment or to conserve energy, you may want to select a ductless mini split as your AC unit. This type of air conditioning takes up little space and is energy efficient. A mini split works with both an outdoor and indoor unit.

The outdoor unit is made up of a condenser and a compressor. In some cases, one outdoor unit will work with a couple of different indoor units. The indoor units mount easily onto a wall. Refrigerant will flow through tubing inside the units.

High–Efficiency Systems

The compressor of a regular air conditioner runs at a single level. It uses a lot of energy when you turn it on. A high–efficiency air conditioner has a more sophisticated system of compression. This kind of system changes levels based on the cooling needs of the house.

The coils of a high–efficiency air conditioner are made with a lighter material and that allows for a more efficient transfer of heat.

The blower fan of a highly efficient system blows at a lower level most of the time. This makes your system run with less energy, reducing your carbon footprint and energy bills. Our service professionals can help you make a plan to reduce your overall impact on the Earth.

Heat Pump

The expression "heat pump air conditioning" may sound like an oxymoron. However, heat is not created through a heat pump. The heat from the air or ground is redistributed through a heat pump. These systems use a refrigerant that circulates from the outdoor unit to the indoor unit.

When a heat pump is in cooling mode, it absorbs heat that is inside your home. That heat is released into the outdoors.

Zone Systems

A zoning AC system is another option that will save energy. It only cools the rooms in your house that you are using. It works by dividing your AC system into several different zones with their own thermostats.

Different people are comfortable at different temperatures. If you have people who prefer being warmer in your home, you can save energy as they won’t turn their thermostats up as high as others in the house. A zoning system lets you and your family cohabitate more peacefully.

We begin installing a zone system in your house by dividing the home into several sections with their own thermostat.

We then install dampers inside your home’s ducts. Dampers control airflow within a home, allowing you to individually control each of the thermostats. When you turn your thermostat up, the dampers open and close until they reach the temperature you have set. We pride ourselves on great service. We won’t leave until your HVAC equipment works perfectly.

Thermostat Installation

Sometimes you don’t need a whole new HVAC system. In some cases, your thermostat may simply be broken. We can install a new thermostat on your current air conditioning system.

When your thermostat is broken, your AC unit may still work, but you cannot change the temperature. This could result in a huge waste of energy or a home that is not at a comfortable temperature.

Why You Need AC Maintenance

You may think that if your air conditioner is not broken, there’s no reason to pay someone to work on it. However, maintenance can resolve several common problems that affect air conditioners.

If you do need to service your AC, one of our trained technicians can come to your house and take care of your air conditioning needs. However, you should not wait for something to go wrong to call us. Yearly inspections can extend the lifespan of your unit and ensure the following concerns are addressed.

Safety

New Jersey is hot in the summertime. Air conditioning is a necessity for most people to be comfortable and healthy. If you have air conditioning maintenance once a year, you won’t have to worry about your air conditioning fritzing out.

Air Quality

You need high–rated air filters in your HVAC system to make sure that dangerous particles in the air are captured and kept out of your house. However, an air conditioner’s frame must be sturdy so that it can hold the filter in place. If the filter frame does not hold the filter in place properly, it can’t do its job.

Filter quality is measured by a rating system called Minimum Efficiency Reporting Values (MERV). The higher the MERV rating, the smaller the particles it can capture.

Some HVAC systems have filters you can change yourself. Others require a trained technician to change them. When we come out for your annual maintenance, we can recommend the best filter to work with your air conditioning system.

A quality filter is essential to keeping condenser and evaporator coils in working order. The evaporator coil removes moisture and heat from indoor air cooling. The condenser coil uses the heat and sends it outside.

When you do not replace filters regularly, the air will not flow through the condenser and evaporator coils properly. This can reduce indoor air quality. If air is unable to flow properly, the evaporator can freeze.

When the evaporator coil freezes, it trips the safety wires and your air conditioner will shut off. Annual maintenance will include cleaning the coils or replacing them if necessary. Dirty coils have even been known to cause fires.

Air Conditioner Maintenance is Cost–Effective

Air conditioner repairs can be expensive. If your AC breaks down in the middle of summer, you may end up waiting a long time for a repair. Just about every home in New Jersey has an air conditioner, and air conditioner repair people are in demand.

When you do get a repair person out to your house, the repairs can be costly. There are several different kinds of air conditioning systems out there, and each of them has unique problems that may need attention.

Weather Up Down HVAC Corp. offers a great service plan to people in Central New York that will save you money in the long run. Your comfort is our top priority, and we always guarantee our work.

What Air Conditioner Maintenance Entails

In addition to checking your filter and condenser coils, our maintenance specialist can give your HVAC system a complete exam. We make sure your thermostat is regulating temperature correctly. When you have a broken thermostat, you can’t set the temperature where you want it.

We also check that your furnace is working properly. The furnace heats air circulated by the HVAC system. If it fails, the whole system will shut down.

We look to ensure there are no gas or refrigeration leaks in the unit. We check that the drip pan is not overflowing and that the safety switch works. If they are not working, it can cause major water damage to your floors and walls.

New Jersey Air Conditioning Services

Having maintenance inspections regularly can help you avoid an HVAC emergency. You will not need a replacement for a well–maintained HVAC for many years. Weather Up Down HVAC Corp. is committed to giving our customers quality service at a fair price. Contact us for an inspection and get to know our maintenance program today!

How Does a Heat Pump Work?

You or the previous owner of your home probably chose to use a heat pump instead of an air conditioner because it uses one simple unit to heat and cool your home. Your bills are lower than they would be if you had a traditional air conditioner.

Heat pumps transfer heat from one area to another. When you use an air pump to heat a structure, the pump extracts heat from the ground and warms a home with it. They cool a building by doing the reverse. An air conditioner and a heat pump work in a similar fashion.

The air conditioner uses more refrigerant than a heat pump. An HVAC system requires a furnace to provide heat in the winter. More refrigerant and fuel use means more chemicals are released into the air.

Heat pumps do not need as much refrigerant to work. Although a heat pump unit will require certain chemicals, they are not nearly as damaging to the environment as those found in an HVAC system. A heat pump unit operates according to the laws of thermodynamics, which state that heat moves from high–pressure to low–pressure places.

The pump simply switches the process around. It takes heat from low–pressure areas and pushes it into high–pressure areas. It works with the use of a compressor, fans, and coils that are filled with refrigerant.

If you are like most people in New York , you probably have an air source heat pump. Heat is pumped into a house via coils. The air pump can also cool your home because of a reversing valve. Hot air is taken out of the home and released into the air.

The refrigerant absorbs heat in the home and releases it outside. When the refrigerant cools off, it goes back inside to absorb more heat, repeating the process. Two fans blow the cold air over the coils and into a home.

Thermal heat pumps are run underground. They get heat from the ground itself or groundwater. In most cases, it takes heat from the ground and transports it inside the home via refrigerant or water.

Heat pumps are not recommended for people in cold climates because they end up using too much energy to pump hot air inside the home.

Heat pumps occasionally have features that make them work more efficiently, such as dual module compressors that adjust temperatures depending on what is needed to keep a home comfortable. Desuperheater Coils recycle waste heat and use it to heat the water. This is much better for the environment.

What Can Go Wrong With a Heat Pump?

A heat pump is less complicated than an air conditioner because it does not need a furnace to operate. However, there are still plenty of things that can go wrong. There are several reasons that you might call for a heat pump repair service, including the following.

It Is Not Cooling Your Home

If a heat pump is not cooling your home, the reason is usually that the thermostat or the power receiving unit is not working properly.

You control the temperature via a thermostat, so if you are suddenly not comfortable in your home, it may be because your thermostat is not set correctly or you have a tripped wire. People often buy a new thermostat only to find that it does not work with their system.

If you are using the same thermostat you always have, it is appropriately set, and the power is not out, you should call Weather Up Down HVAC Corp.. We can repair or replace a thermostat. A thermostat is expected to last about 10 years, and a heat pump is expected to last about 15 years. You will need to replace a thermostat at least once during the life of the heat pump.

It Is Blowing Cold Air

If your heat pump is blowing cold air when you set it to hot, it may be because it is defrosting. Heat pumps defrost occasionally. It may let out cold air for a short period to prevent the coils from freezing over. A dirty filter can also prevent cold air from getting through. You should change your filters as often as the manufacturer recommends. The better filter you buy, the less often you will have to change it.

If the problem persists and you have changed the filter, give us a call for a repair.

It Is Making Unusual Noises

If a heat pump is making a screeching, rattling, or rumbling noise, you should contact Weather Up Down HVAC Corp. right away. If you hear a pinging noise, it is likely due to thermal expansion. This means a component of your heat pump or the structure around it is changing shapes due to a temperature change. We have to examine your home’s ducts to get to the root of the problem.

If you hear a rattling noise, you may want to check to make sure that the duct cover is screwed on properly. If this is not the problem, the noise may be coming from loose ductwork. Our repair technicians have the equipment to discover the source of the problem and fix it.

Most heating pumps have a light metallic sound sometimes. If this noise bothers you, we can put insulation between the ductwork and the heat pump.

The Heat Pump Keeps Turning On and Off

This is a common problem when it comes to heating pumps. It may simply be that your filters are dirty. It is always a good idea to change your filters before calling for any type of repair. If you do change the filter and the problem persists, there is likely to be something wrong with the heat anticipator.

The anticipator determines the temperature the heat burners will turn off at. The burners should be turned off slightly before the room reaches the temperature that you want. The problem is normally caused by faulty wiring inside of a thermostat. You will need to have your thermostat replaced or repaired to fix the situation. Some other problems can cause a machine to switch on and off.

Our trained technicians can diagnose the problem and tell you whether or not you need to have your thermostat repaired or if you should replace it. They can also give you an estimate of the costs while they are there.

What is a heat pump?

A heat pump is a type of heating and cooling system that is installed outside a home. It cools your home like an air conditioner but can provide heat without a furnace.

Neither heat pumps nor traditional HVAC systems create heat; rather they redistribute it. When they are used as heaters, heat is taken from the ground or air and circulated between a coil inside a home and an outdoor compressor. This is done with the use of refrigerant. The system acts in reverse when you are cooling your home. Hot air is removed from the inside of a home and released outside.

How They Work

Heat will always travel to areas that are cooler and have less pressure. Heat pumps force heat into colder areas which causes a natural transference.

When a heat pump is cooling properly, refrigerant pumps through the indoor coil, which works as an evaporator. Indoor air blows across the coils. The refrigerant absorbs heat from the air, and cool air is created. This air blows through the home’s air ducts. It is very important that the indoor coil is clean, or it may freeze over, which can cause the heat pump to stop working.
The refrigerant is turned into a gas that is compressed and pressurized. The gas heats up, and the pressurized refrigerant travels to the outdoor coil.

An outdoor fan unit pushes outside air over the coils, which act as condenser coils. Heat is moved from the refrigerant and released into the air.

The refrigerant condenses into a warm liquid that travels back through the system and moves indoors. At this point, an expansion valve lowers the pressure of the refrigerant, which returns to a liquid form. The process then begins again.

A heat pump works by reversing this process. If you want your heat pump to heat your home, it must contain a reversing valve. If this valve becomes loose, it may not reverse the process, and cold air might be blown into your home on a hot day.

What are the types of heat pumps?

There are several types of heat pumps. They include air–to–air, water sources, and geothermal. They draw heat from outside the home, concentrate it, and use it indoors.

An air source heat pump transfers heat between the home and the air outside. Most people use this type of heat pump, and it runs on 50% of the electricity of a traditional air conditioner. They can even work as de–humidifiers.

A mini split system is used for homes that do not have ducts. Mini splits are economical and great for small apartments or offices.

Geothermal heat pumps transfer heat between your house and the ground or from a water source. They are expensive and difficult to install. However, they cost less to operate than other types of cooling systems. The reason is that groundwater temperatures are fairly consistent. Geothermal heat pumps may lessen your energy use by as much as 60%

Home Maintenance and Professional Maintenance

Any home heating and cooling system will need a certain amount of maintenance and a heat pump is no exception. The good news is that a heat pump requires less maintenance than a traditional HVAC system. A traditional HVAC system will need professional maintenance at least once a year. When you have a heat pump, you may not need it quite as often. There are a few things you will want to do regularly to make sure your system performs at maximum efficacy.

You should change your filters as often as the manufacturer of your heat pump recommends. The filters’ quality is determined by a rating system called MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value).

Using a high–quality filter is a great way to maintain the performance of your system. The higher the MERV rating, the higher the quality of the filter. The smaller the particles a filter can capture, the higher the MERV rating will be. MERV ratings go from one to 20.

You may think that the best thing to do is just get a filter with a rating of 20. However, filters with very high ratings are designed to work with professional systems in places such as hospitals, laboratories, and operating rooms. A home system would never be able to handle a filter with a MERV rating of 20. Generally, you should not go above a filter with a MERV rating of 16.

People in cold climates have to worry about ice building up around an outdoor system in the winter, but if you live in New Jersey , you will not need to worry about that. You should remove any plants that are around the heat pump, and they should be at least a foot and a half away from the pump.

Your thermostat should always be set between 65 and 70 degrees. If you set it higher or lower, it may increase your energy bill.

What Our Inspectors Will Do

As long as you change your filters regularly, you will only need professional maintenance around once a year. Weather Up Down HVAC Corp.’s trained professional technicians will do a thorough examination of your system to make sure that everything is running perfectly. We will let you know if you need repairs and make professional recommendations for upgrades and maintenance.

We take several steps when we come out to your house. We will begin the maintenance inspection by checking ducts and blowers for obstructions and dirt, which can limit the functionality of your system. It can cause obstructions and leaking, which can shut down your system.

We will check for any leakage in the ducts. If we find any, we will fix them for no extra charge. If there is a major structural problem that will take a long time to fix, we give you an estimate of the price of fixing it and the amount of time it will take.

Checking for Issues with Poor Airflow and Freezing

We will confirm that there is proper airflow in your system. If the filters are clean and the pipes are free of obstructions, poor airflow may be caused by frozen coils. We will make sure that there is no ice on the coils because frozen coils can be a sign of major problems.

We will also check to make sure that you have the proper amount of refrigerant in your system. Refrigerant transfers from place to place and is reused. Your system should not be low on refrigerant, but if it is, we will check for leaks, patch them, and add more refrigerant.

Electrical terminals may become worn out over time, and may not hold wires and pipes properly. We will make sure that your terminals are in good shape, and tighten them and clean them if necessary.

A heat pump needs to work like a well–oiled machine. We always lubricate motors and make sure that the belts in the system are well–tightened and not worn down, and we will tighten any loose connections. We will inspect the electric control and ensure you get hot or cold air when you need it.

The condensing unit’s drip pan is an extremely important part of your HVAC system. If it gets too full, it can cause leaks that will slow your system down or shut it off. Checking the drip pan for leaks and holes is critical to a good maintenance inspection.

We will inspect your thermostat and ensure the sensors are working properly. If your thermostat doesn’t work, it doesn’t matter how good the condition of your heat pump is.

Why You Should Hire Us

Our family–owned business is committed to the comfort and good health of people in the New York area. We are staffed with a team of HVAC specialists who know every kind of system completely. We look forward to servicing your home; give us a call today.

How much does Central Air Conditioning installation cost?

If you live in New York , you should give us a call so we can provide you with an estimate for your air conditioner installation. How much you spend on your installation is going to depend on several factors, including:

The time of year you choose your installation can also play a part in the air conditioner installation cost. Our air conditioner installation team gets very busy just before the hottest season in central New York , so you want to try to schedule your installation in the cooler months. In New York , that’s also the best time to schedule your regular air conditioning maintenance. New Jersey homes will greatly benefit from an air conditioner installation.

New Jersey Air Conditioner Installation

New Jersey residents can choose from three common types of air conditioner units. When choosing a new air conditioning system, ask a professional AC installer for their opinion.

Traditional Split System

Most conventional air–conditioning types rely on ducts to distribute the air.

Ductless Mini–split Systems

A ductless mini–split system: This system uses one or more indoor air conditioner units, each connected to an outdoor compressor. They are strategically positioned throughout your home, so they don’t use ducts to distribute air. They can save you money if you don’t already have a system of air conditioning ducts in your home. These are popular in older homes in states that don’t have New York ’s heat.

Geothermal Systems

While these have been in existence for over sixty years, you don’t commonly see geothermal systems around New York . These systems use geothermal heat to warm homes during the winter and pump hot air from the home during the summer months.

Before deciding on your air conditioner installation, we discuss your options, discuss the details of the air conditioner system you are considering, and review which old system we are removing. On the day that we complete the air conditioner installation, we will give you a call to let you know that we are on our way to alert you.

Much of our work may be outside because, in most New York homes, that’s where most units are. We start by removing any equipment from your existing air conditioner system and properly disposing of it. After about a day of working on your air conditioner installation, you’ll start to feel way cooler.

How do I prepare my New York home for an air conditioner installation?

We advise that you clear a path for our contractors to be able to work. We will need a place to park our truck and an area to walk through that is clear of clutter or obstacles so we have room to function. To achieve optimal customer satisfaction for your New Jersey AC installation, we need the proceeding areas to be clear so that we can properly prepare your new air conditioner or air conditioner replacement. Any toys, rugs, furniture, or other items that can prevent a service technician from getting to the vents should be removed for the duration of the air conditioner installation.

How long will the air conditioner installation take?

Installation of a full AC system could take an entire day — typically between four hours and eight hours. Because larger New York homes tend to require more than one unit to cool the entire house efficiently, it will take longer if you install a new unit in a home with 10,000 square feet, for example, instead of 3,000 square feet.

It also depends on what type of air conditioning system you have installed. If you are doing a change–out, substituting an older AC unit for a newer one, then that may take a full day. But if you are installing a completely new system, including the thermostats and ductwork must be replaced, or if our technicians need to remove asbestos, then this could take up to three days. Overall, New Jersey AC installation is subjective to the New Jersey homeowner’s needs.

AC maintenance

All New Jersey residents know that New Jersey gets unbearably hot fast. If your air conditioner stops working, you don’t have a day or two to wait for a technician to help you out. If you are a parent of children, you may be especially worried about their health and dehydration if your air conditioner suddenly stops working.

Fortunately, having your air conditioner regularly maintained will mean that you can catch problems before they become major issues. For example, let’s say there is a minor issue with your air conditioning unit, and one of your hoses gets clogged. A technician from Weather Up Down HVAC Corp. can unclog that hose before it causes permanent damage to the rest of the air conditioning system. However, the ramifications of letting a clogged hose go for too long could be severe. If cold air is getting trapped, it could freeze the compressor and cause it to malfunction.

Preventive maintenance is recommended for your AC unit to alleviate the bottleneck of frequent repairs and the need for an air conditioner replacement. AC repair is great momentarily, but if issues consistently arise, replacement services are the best option as they will provide free estimates for your AC replacement. It is imperative to contact an experienced technician to obtain advice if your unit requires a simple AC repair or an entire air conditioner replacement.

Why Weather Up Down HVAC Corp.

New Jersey residents have trusted us for years to provide installations for new AC systems, regular maintenance on existing equipment, and repairs or replacements when necessary. In New York , it gets way too hot to be sitting around waiting for someone to fix your air conditioning unit. We are New York residents at Weather Up Down HVAC Corp. too, and we know how frustrating it is when your air conditioning doesn’t work. We understand that you have children, elderly loved ones, or other dependents that you need to take care of and lives that you need to lead. You most likely don’t want to be waiting for a repair person for something as vital as your air conditioning unit. We offer same–day emergency service to our New Jersey neighbors who need urgent repairs on their New Jersey system. Give us a call today for your air conditioner installation in New York .

Professional Central Air Conditioning Installation

We pride ourselves on self–sufficiency here in the New Jersey area, but although some homeowners may be inclined to perform central AC repair or even central air conditioning system installation themselves, this would be a huge mistake. Air conditioning technicians need proper training and licensing to do their jobs. Since central AC systems rely on potentially dangerous components like refrigerant, there’s a good reason for this.

Furthermore, even if you were to attempt repairs yourself, the chances of causing additional damage are high, and you would be left on the hook for any repairs needed to your central air conditioner. You can avoid all of that simply by calling in a professional at the first sign of trouble, then letting us handle the problem the right way.

Central AC Repair & Maintenance in New York

Most of the calls we get for central AC services here in New Jersey are repair calls rather than replacement calls, which only stands to reason. But while we’re happy to fix a problem once it’s arisen, we’re much happier helping you prevent that problem in the first place. That’s why we recommend a maintenance session for your air conditioner at least once a year (and ideally twice).

Maintenance is a sort of tune–up, designed both to correct the little issues that lead to big ones (like loose bolts and leaking refrigerant) and to spot serious issues before they shut your system down. As a result, your AC works more efficiently and you run much less of a risk of needing a repair call!

Call for New York Central Air Conditioning Services

Centralized air conditioners are very important in this part of the world, where high temperatures can turn your home into an oven. The service you use to install, repair, maintain and replace them needs to be as reliable as your doctor or your auto mechanic. In the height of summer, it can mean more than just a comfortable home. It can mean preventing heat stroke or similar serious health issues.

That’s why we take such care in our service to ensure that your unit is working exactly as it should when we get done with it. We know how much of a difference extra attention can make and we’re dedicated to ensuring that your system is fixed the right way every time. Give us a call today to schedule air conditioning services in New York and the surrounding area.

Common Reasons Why You Need AC Repair in New York

There are a couple of pieces in your system that could trigger the need for an air conditioning repair or replacement, ensuring your AC is operating efficiently.

The Fan

Fans move air throughout your system. There is a motor that requires lubricant, and dirt accumulating near it can be an issue. If you’re in the New York area, we can come out and clean your AC fans to get them working properly.

Clogged Hoses

If the AC’s hoses are clogged, you could have water buildup in your system that could lead to leaks in your walls and ceiling. Those leaks can lead to mold growth, which would be a major undertaking to correct. If you notice issues with your AC’s hoses, give us a call.

Corroded Coils

This is a common issue in Central New York and a frequent cause of air conditioner repair. The evaporator and condenser use coils that can become dirty or corrode over time. Dirt in the system can cause the machinery to malfunction.

Broken Thermostat

A broken thermostat doesn’t mean that your system will shut off. You may notice that it still runs, but you can’t change the temperature. This could lead to a big waste of energy and a huge electric bill. We offer thermostat repair and replacement. If the only thing wrong with your AC unit is a broken thermostat, it can save you a lot of money.

Indoor Air Quality

If you have noticed that the air quality in your home is subpar, there may be something wrong with your air conditioner. You may just have to change the filter. However, the filter frame may be loose or seated improperly. If this is the case, a new filter will not fix the problem. If you haven’t changed the filter in a while, the condenser coils may become frozen and cause poor airflow.

Frequently Asked Questions About Air Conditioning Repair

What is the average lifespan of an AC Unit in New York ?

The average lifespan of an AC unit in New York is anywhere between eight to 14 years. However, in coastal cities with more salt in the air, an air conditioner may last between five and seven years. The more often you have your air conditioning system inspected and repaired when necessary, the longer the equipment will run smoothly.

How often should I service my air conditioner?

You should service your air conditioning systems at least once a year. Without annual maintenance, there is a higher risk of breakage, leading to extra costs. You should clean or change your air filters once every six months to maintain indoor air quality and avoid the accumulation of dust inside the system.

Is it worth it to have air conditioning repairs?

In most cases, having an air conditioning repair is worthwhile. You can save money with an AC repair, especially if the unit is relatively new. There are other situations when parts of the air conditioning systems break, and it costs more to repair them. If the unit is older than ten years, it might be better to replace it.

How do I know when my air conditioner needs to be replaced?

The most obvious hint that you need to replace your equipment is a constant need for air conditioning repair. Another sign is when you notice the energy efficiency decreasing. By upgrading to a newer unit, you get access to new technologies that can cool your home better while paying less for new parts if you need to replace them.

Why is my AC running but not cooling?

The most common reason why your AC is running but not cooling is a dirty air filter, which doesn’t allow cool air to pass easily. There can also be an issue with the condenser or its coils, which can be clogged or damaged by debris. A refrigerant leak can also damage the whole system.

Why You Should Go Ductless

The type of air conditioner that you install in your home will have significant repercussions down the line. Conventional ducted systems utilized rigid or flexible ductwork to move air throughout your home and they are highly effective at doing so. But one of the downsides of ductwork is the energy loss that occurs during the transportation of conditioned air which can raise your energy bills. There are also indoor air quality issues to think about when it comes to ductwork, as they often become havens for dust, pollen, dander and other debris. A ductless system is highly energy efficient, allows you to customize your indoor climate for different zones of your home, and is a great over–all performer.

Ductless Mini Split Installation and Replacement Services

Make no mistake: your ductless mini split installation is just as important as your equipment itself. Your system needs to be charged with the right amount of refrigerant, the various components need to be properly connected, and you need to ensure that everything performs exactly as it should. Ductless mini split installation involves the placement of multiple indoor air handlers for every outdoor unit, and this allows you to control the temperatures of these different zones separately.

Ductless Mini Split Repair Services

While a ductless mini split frequently requires less repair and maintenance than conventional systems, they encounter problems just like any other part of your home, whether because of the accumulation of debris or from component failure. Here are some signs that could indicate you need professional ductless mini split repair.

Not enough cooling
Don’t settle for inadequate cooling. We can make sure that your ductless mini split always delivers adequate cooling.
Loud or strange noise
If your ductless system makes a loud or strange noise, then there could be a loose or damage component, or even an electrical problem.
Spike in energy bills
A spike from one month to the next in your energy bills often indicates that there is a serious problem present in your system. It could be low refrigerant or an airflow issue.

Call Weather Up Down HVAC Corp. to schedule quality ductless mini split installation and repair services in New York and the surrounding area.

Reasons to Consider Duct Repair Services

Your ducts are a bit like the circulatory system for your home. They remove warm or cold indoor air, condition it, and then return it to your home so that you can stay comfortable. But over time, your ducts endure a significant amount of wear and tear, from temperature fluctuation and accidental damage, among others. Here are some good reasons to consider professional duct repair service:

Holes
Keep an eye and an ear on your ducts. If you notice a whistling sound or an unusual loudness, then you might have a hole that is leaking your conditioned air or allowing fumes and contaminants into your clean air stream.
Loose connections
The connections between your ducts are susceptible to damage over time, and loose connections can lead to serious problems with the operation of your HVAC system.

If, at any time, you feel as though your HVAC system is not operating correctly, you need to notify a professional to come take a look at your system components and your ducts. It could be a sign that your ducts need to be repaired.

When to Replace your Ducts

The line between repair and replacement is not always as clear–cut as we would like. There is often a number of ways to go about solving a problem, and it depends upon what your needs and budget are. We offer turnkey solutions that are comprehensive in scope, and we make sure our customers know the root–cause of the problem before we go about fixing it. In short, we want you to have options. If you find that you’re paying for duct repair too often, or that your ducts are so damaged that they are unable to be repaired, we can make sure that your duct replacement is taken care of quickly and thoroughly so that you enjoy minimal downtime.
